Project developed for an industrial building, from the second half of the 19th century, Fábrica de Montargila, one of the few factories of its kind in the municipality of Oeiras. The building is municipal heritage, despite its advanced state of degradation.

The project sought to fully preserve the outside appearance and added an exterior volume coupled to the main building where the entrance and the elevator were designed. This volume will be decorated with a work by the Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, which will benefit not only the architectural intervention, but also the classified building.

The existing interior was very degraded, so only the main walls supporting the exterior ones of the first floor were preserved.



The project sought to respect the existing elements and create a dialogue with contemporaneity, as well as with Portuguese contemporary art, by integrating an artistic project by Joana Vasconcelos.
